Say Hi To The Little Guy

July 20th, 2002 - Add a Comment

Oh yes. The long wait is over and the broadcast of Levi-Vision has begun (check your local listings for channel number). It’s time to kick back and watch the excitement unfold as the “All Levi, All the Time” marathon begins!

Some exposition to bring viewers who are just joining us up to speed: Lisa and I have teamed-up to produce a tiny composite-self; a “mini-us”, if you will. At first we were content to assign him the project number “2002-WC1″, but as he began to exhibit symptoms of personality (and as we tired of shouting things like, “did you change 2002-WC1’s diaper?”) we decided to reclassify him with a more culturally mainstream name. Thus the current moniker: Levi Sequoia Williams.

Levi was born at 12:19 PM on July 3, 2002. Datewise, he managed to slip himself right in between my sister’s birthday (July 2) and a certain national holiday (which we then spent laid up in the hospital).

And now, simply because the web enables one to easily look up such dubiously valuable trivia, I will present for your edification a list of other noteworthy/not-worthy individuals who share July 3 as the day of their birth:

  • Dave Barry
  • Tom Cruise
  • Gloria Allred
  • Franz Kafka
  • Hunter Tylo (ask Shepard)
  • and Montel Williams

July 3 also seems to have been a hotbed of interesting historical occurrences (this perhaps being aided by the not-insignificant fact that it keeps occurring every year, and has been doing so since the dawn of the Gregorian calendar). Here are some interesting July 3’s throughout the years:

  • 1608 - Quebec is founded by French explorer Samuel de Champlain
  • 1775 - General George Washington takes formal command of the Continental Army in the American Revolution
  • 1863 - Union troops repel a massive Confederate assault in the Battle of Gettysburg
  • 1886 - Karl Benz drives the first automobile in the world reaching a top speed of 10 mph
  • 1890 - Idaho is admitted to the Union as the 43rd state
  • 1928 - John Logie Baird transmits the world’s first color television transmission
  • 1929 - E.A. Murphy develops foam rubber.

Anyhow, isn’t it time you proceeded to check out Levi-Vision, the channel that plays continual coverage of my son all day, every day? It’s really quite a hoot. See you there!
