Clint Williams’ Top-Secret Super-Stealth Site
I tried various queries through Google today to measure the visibility of this here website o’ mine, and I wasn’t impressed with the results.
Straightforward searches like “clint williams” and “clint lisa levi” don’t turn up the clintonium site anywhere in at least the first 15 pages of results. Yes, pages. I didn’t bother to look any further than that. Even more specific searches like “clint m williams” and “clinton metcalf williams” don’t turn up my site. Not even quoting the search terms to force identical string matches helps. The search “clint williams vancouver” turns up a yellow-pages entry for Lisa and I as the first result, which is cool, but still no clintonium site.
This makes me suspect that Google almost entirely disregards the content of meta keyword and description tags, since all the search terms above are sprinkled liberally throughout mine. I noticed that the prominent hits in my search results today all draw their matches from the actual text of the page, so I decided to write this post mentioning all the relevant search terms to see if it would increase the ranking of clintonium.com in the results. I know that other sites pointing links to yours is the factor that Google weights the heaviest but I can’t do anything about that at the moment. I’ll check back in a week and see if clintonium.com ranks any higher for the searches I mentioned. If I have a minute, I’ll also post an update here for the Google-edification of all.
