Bedtime Thoughts from Levi
Just after storytime and prayer, and before he falls asleep, Levi usually offers up his most profound statements of the day. They’re usually simple, uncomplicated pronouncements that somehow have a feel of wisdom to them, probably because they remind me to just be present in the moment and not always off looking ahead. I want to start jotting some of them down here so that they’re not lost to the past.
Some nights I ask Levi what he wants to do or be when he grows up. Not because I want him to be concerned about that stuff yet — he needs time to just be a kid — but because his answers are always so humorous. Here are a couple exchanges:
Levi: “A dinosaur.”
Dad: “Hmm. And what will you do when you become a dinosaur?”
Levi: “Dinosaur stuff.”
And on another night…
Levi: “Hmmmmm. I don’t know.”
Dad: “Do you think you’ll get married?”
Levi: “Mmmm Hmmm.”
Dad: “And have kids of your own?”
Levi: “Mmmm Hmmm,” (then, after a pause) “…and teach little girls how to blow bubbles.”
