NaPoWriMo Day 6: Sushi and Steak

April 6th, 2010 - Comments (6)

Sushi is a dish made of fish, if you wish,
but a poem is another thing entirely.

Sushi and revenge both may hinge on the fringe
of a format served up cold (before expiry).

But poems in the raw, left to thaw, rarely awe,
since they’re missing something central to the trick.

A poem, like a steak—goodness sake—needs to bake
or it probably will make somebody sick.
