Currently serving as a contractor (through Lockheed Martin) at the Western Federal Lands Highway Division of the Federal Highway Administration. Activities include developing data-driven web applications using a blend of PHP, SQL, HTML, CSS and Javascript; designing user interface templates; planning for long-term content growth management; creating graphic media using Photoshop, Illustrator, and Flash; writing content and editing content submitted by others; maintaining and extending the WFLHD websites (internet and intranet) and those of related organizations (PCCAS and WAQTC), and contributing input to long-term programming and infrastructure decisions.

  • Completely redesigned the WFLHD public website user interface and the underlying information architecture, achieving substantial gains in accessibility, functionality, organization, and appearance. The UI template was then adopted as a standard by the rest of the FLH divisions nationwide.
  • Have twice received the FHWA's "Strive for Excellence" Innovation Award (2002, 2007) for substantially improving the quality and usability of the FLH websites.

Served as the lead designer and front-end programmer of a development team contracted to build a suite of turn-key website generation tools. Designed interactive e-commerce processes and built varying user interface templates with visual styles targeted to key demographic groups. Utilized an effective blend of IML, SQL, XHTML, CSS, and Javascript to build scalable, easily maintained components. Led creation of a website to market the service and wrote related content.
